Continuum is proud to announce its inaugural one-day, teen-centric YA speculative fiction convention, YACon! It is something we have been brewing up for a while and are beyond excited about it.
In order to make it happen, we need some people power. Yes, that means it’s committee recruiting time!
A few important things to note:
- We are firm advocates for #TeensToTheFront and teens will be prioritised for committee roles. If you are over 18, we definitely still want to hear from you!
- Anyone over the age of 18 on committee will be required to have a valid Working with Children check. If you need help obtaining one, we are more than happy to assist.
- The time commitment will be approx. one face-to-face meeting per month, with date/time to be decided upon by the committee. There will also be several hours of online organising work involved. All Committee members will also be expected to assist with running the convention on the day, but there will definitely be downtime to check out some panels as well!
- All positions, including panelists, are voluntary.
There will be a wide range of positions available, from planning the day’s events, marketing, communicating with potential guests/panelists, and a lot more! And don’t worry if this isn’t something you’ve done before, we have experienced mentors on hand to assist in all roles.
If you’re interested being a part of a great team, having fun and making YACon happen, send an email to email@example.com with a little bit of information about yourself, and what aspects of running a convention that you’re interested in.
